Before calling, try these quick checks:

1. Check the thermostat — set to Heat, temperature 5+ degrees above current room temp, fresh batteries if applicable.
2. Check the furnace power switch (often near the basement stairs — looks like a regular light switch) is in the ON position.
3. Make sure the furnace front door is fully closed — there’s a safety switch that won’t let it fire if it’s even slightly open.
4. Replace the air filter if it’s dirty. A clogged filter triggers safety shutdowns.
5. Check your circuit breaker — sometimes the furnace breaker trips silently.
